THE THING ABOUT WEDDINGS

Weddings have a way of making everyone happy, the bride, the groom, their parents, their friends and family, but sometimes there are some people who don't really feel the joyful atmosphere because of the pressure placed on them, especially if you're too involved in the event. like  the event planner,  chief brides maid,  sister or brother to the couple, a close friend that is like family, and even the couple sometimes.  Usually they're too busy making sure every other person is happy or trying to make things perfect that they don't enjoy every moment of the event, this is not to say they aren't happy about it, but because of the pressure placed on them, they become unaware of the fact that their minds automatically disassociates itself from the event, not the planning. I went for a wedding today and had a great time, it got me thinking that maybe i had fun because, i wasn't on the train, or i wasn't related to t

LAGOS HUSTLE NA WA

Photo Credit: Fume Fasoyin Woke up this morning feeling like I could conquer the world but immediately I set foot outside, I got upset.  I n this pursuit of gold, there's nothing your eyes won't see. like being unfortunate to sit next to a lady with smelly hair or armpit, a guy with mouth odour, the conductor shouting at the top of his lungs and spitting all over the place "Oshodi mile 2" worse, you give him (N1000) one thousand naira and he ignores all your calls for change till you eventually forget to collect it and get down, then you ask yourself "why didn't i just take a cab? i was penny wise, pound foolish".  Later.... you decide to flag down a rickety looking taxi, moving like all its parts are about to fall off, it stops in front of you and the driver says "four thousand naira madam" from ilupeju to the island. Haba! "Am i traveling out of Lagos or do I grow a tree of money in my back yard?" I have no choice I get in, wh

THE LADY ON THE FENCE

photo Credit: Fume Fasoyin No one ever thought that she might have loved him, no one suspected that he might have deceived her. Oh yes! she should have been smart enough to know he was lying, we all say, but is it her fault she was gullible enough to believe his lies and fall in love with him?. Give her some slack, you have your sins as well do not be a hypocrite that's all i will say. She was young and naive, he was handsome and rakish vast with the knowledge of the world yet, she fell fast and hard, she didn't know he was lying she just saw him as unlucky in love, whom God had sent to her to rescue, but he was "boboying" ( lying to) her. Ain't they all the same? is the question hanging in the air. Still if we sit here together gossiping and criticizing her, we would never find out the truth. did she love him, was it for the money, or is she truly a victim of gullibility in love? hmmmmmm, about the money part, i hear he didn't give her much. These

MARKET WOMAN AT THE LAGOS COUNTDOWN

THUGS, no no no danger zone. Like she knew what was playing in my head she quickly told me about the organizers and how the exhibition was to take place, then I thought well, if  LASAA is involved, I have nothing to worry about... and I was right. The stalls were not only free, we were given adequate security as well as electricity for everyone. After signing the proper documents we were given tags to wear and stalls to put our stands. Excited, i woke up early on the day the exhibition opened, rushed through the morning ritual of bathing and all,  gathered my wares and headed straight

LAUGH IT OFF

I felt like eating Chinese today and remembered what happened to I and my friends a couple of months back.  Here's what happened- a couple of months back just after best of both worlds (BOBW) cocktail party, which was hosted by Ariyike Akinbobola, held at Ntyce. I and two of my friends Nwadi and Nkem decided we should stop at a chinese restaurant for dinner. We got there, the environment was quiet, inside was empty, except for a guy drinking by the bar. We picked a table for three and sat ready to order. Now, I had just (N2500) two thousand five hundred naira on me and I thought, even if its just their spring rolls, why not. It's not everyday I go out and buy chinese. The waiter brought the menu's for us to place our orders and i looked through it, I saw special fried rice for (800) eight hundred naira and sweet corn soup for (700)seven hundred naira. I smiled to myself it'll be great to have both with a bottle of coke. Nwadi ordered same as  me but included spare

Fashion is something that changes as we grow - I remember my saving up to join a trend, only for a new one to start just when I had gotten enough money to join the old and so it goes. With fashion, it may very well be a case of “if you can’t join them, beat them”. As your style is a definition of yourself, when trends change, the solution to keeping up is simple – don’t lose your style to the trend, merge it! Women are unique beings, plus, they always seem to have all the luck when it comes to fashion. Even God took his time to add some “special effects” in their creation. Thus, it isn’t a sur
